Reflective Teaching: A 30-Day Blogging Challenge For Teachers

I'm writing this blog as part of a challenge to reflect and write about my experiences as a first year teacher. My situation is a bit unique because I am a certified teacher with a M.S. in secondary education-Biology but I am volunteering for my first year as an ABLE (Americorps Builds Lives through Education) service member. I chose to do this program for many reasons. I may choose to go into more details about those reasons at a later time. For now let us just say that being an ABLE member for my first year of teaching is an advantage because I get a spectacular amount of support from Americorps and my host school. I've been at my site since August 2014, however, this is a good time to start a reflection blog because we are starting a new semester. Although I will be up to my eyeballs in work, I intend to start the 30 day challenge using the prompts and continue to reflect on my own for the rest of the school year.
